You should be careful what you write. You never know when a future employer might read it.
When did we forget our dreams?
The infinite possibilities each day holds should stagger the mind. The sheer number of experiences I could have is uncountable, breathtaking, and I'm sitting here refreshing my inbox. We live trapped in loops, reliving a few days over and over, and we envision only a handful of paths laid out ahead of us. We see the same things each day, we respond the same way, we think the same thoughts, each day a slight variation on the last, every moment smoothly following the gentle curves of societal norms. We act like if we just get through today, tomorrow our dreams will come back to us.
And no, I don't have all the answers. I don't know how to jolt myself into seeing what each moment could become. But I do know one thing: the solution doesn't involve watering down my every little idea and creative impulse for the sake of some day easing my fit into a mold. It doesn't involve tempering my life to better fit someone's expectations. It doesn't involve constantly holding back for fear of shaking things up.

( just grow up, kid. )
I was told when I grew up I could be anything I wanted: a fireman, a policeman, a doctor — even president, it seemed. And for the first time in the history of mankind, something new, called an astronaut. But like so many kids brought up on a steady diet of westerns, I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero — that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it, and standing for freedom, truth, and justice. And in my heart of hearts I still track the remnants of that dream wherever I go, in my endless ride into the setting sun.

In all those things which deal with people, be liberal, be human. In all those things which deal with people's money, or their economy, or their form of government, be conservative.

Pictures of the Year, 2009 Edition
…and just like that, another year is drawing to a close. Whatever may have been lacking in terms of happiness and want for this year did not get in the way of my far and away favorite hobby – getting … Continue reading
Photo Post: Exit 392 & Back V
The fifth and last of the sets of photos from last week’s trip, from early Wednesday afternoon. The bridge that is the subject of these pictures is the Mackinac Bridge. Couldn’t have asked for a better day weather-wise. Hopefully at … Continue reading
Photo Post: Exit 392 & Back IV
This is from my way back home from the Soo. I decided to stop off for a bit in and around the St. Ignace area, just before the Mackinac Bridge, which has its own share of neat scenes. I had … Continue reading
Photo Post: Exit 392 & Back III
Afternoon park! You get the idea that the more Tuesday went on, the more beautiful the weather became. ( 22 pictures in all )
Photo Set: Exit 392 & Back II
The back roads of The Soo. I used to spend/waste so much time driving on these empty roads to clear my head. Something about wide open spaces does it for me. For minor comedic value, here’s one named 8 Mile. … Continue reading
Photo Set: Exit 392 & Back I
There is a place I used to live called Sault Ste. Marie. That place is, was, and probably always will be one of the nicest places that I’ve lived. Back when I did live up there though I missed out … Continue reading
Photo Set: Fireworks 2009!
It’s the annual tradition. Professional fireworks beats the hell out of taking pictures of the home show. Completely screwed up though, thought the launcher was on the other end of the lake from me, but now that I know this … Continue reading
Photo Set: Suburbset II / Summer Solstice
These were from the first day of Summer here in Suburban Detroit. The supporting cast in this set: clouds, the sun, an empty mall parking lot, and a man-made hill. ( 48 pictures in all )
Photo Set: Camp!
Went out for a photo adventure a couple of weekends ago to an abandoned church camp outside of Howell. Had a great time and took a whole lot of good pictures. Seriously, one of my favorite sets in a while. … Continue reading
Photo set: Chicago, IL (III)
The worst part of my trip to Chicago this spring is that it eventually had to end. A normal person would just hop on the freeway and start the drive. A Jad, however, would decide that it would be a … Continue reading
