When did we forget our dreams?
The infinite possibilities each day holds should stagger the mind. The sheer number of experiences I could have is uncountable, breathtaking, and I'm sitting here refreshing my inbox. We live trapped in loops, reliving a few days over and over, and we envision only a handful of paths laid out ahead of us. We see the same things each day, we respond the same way, we think the same thoughts, each day a slight variation on the last, every moment smoothly following the gentle curves of societal norms. We act like if we just get through today, tomorrow our dreams will come back to us.
And no, I don't have all the answers. I don't know how to jolt myself into seeing what each moment could become. But I do know one thing: the solution doesn't involve watering down my every little idea and creative impulse for the sake of some day easing my fit into a mold. It doesn't involve tempering my life to better fit someone's expectations. It doesn't involve constantly holding back for fear of shaking things up.

( just grow up, kid. )
I was told when I grew up I could be anything I wanted: a fireman, a policeman, a doctor — even president, it seemed. And for the first time in the history of mankind, something new, called an astronaut. But like so many kids brought up on a steady diet of westerns, I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero — that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it, and standing for freedom, truth, and justice. And in my heart of hearts I still track the remnants of that dream wherever I go, in my endless ride into the setting sun.

In all those things which deal with people, be liberal, be human. In all those things which deal with people's money, or their economy, or their form of government, be conservative.

There’s a slight chance that the Senate is wasting time
June 9th, 2010. Major events impacting America that day were led by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill – in its 49th day by that point. Dark clouds were looming over policy for the 2nd half of the year as more … Continue reading
Smooth transition from one revolution to the next
After a series of post-election protests in Ukraine in 2004, dubbed and romanticized as the Orange Revolution, a second round of elections caused the fall of the previous ‘winner’, a pro-Russian leading candidate, and the ultimate victory for the pro-Western … Continue reading
When do we mature to talk about “dirty” things?
This story starts and finishes easy enough, with some kid from some college asking a dumb question of the President that he should have already known the answer to. For this we reach back to a town hall discussion held … Continue reading
If the Bank is Offering Something, it’s Probably Bad For You
In 2009, the Obama Administration got new regulations passed on the banking and credit card sectors that bring to an end business practices that were mainly set up to fleece as much money as possible out of consumers. As a … Continue reading

I would like to preface the entirety of what I am about to say with the following video, since it is what is what set me off in the first place: Some are tempted to call this Orwellian, I was … Continue reading
CIGNA laughs at your pain, awaits your dollars
Somewhere between the great work done by incredibly intelligent people in the field of medicine and the fruits of that labor filtering down to the common person, something goes terribly wrong. The main middle men in this transaction is the … Continue reading
Let the crooks keep on crooking
Managing to not learn a single thing from the ancient history of last year’s economic meltdown (and just in time for the first anniversary, how quaint), reports are still surfacing that the banking industry as a whole continues to engage … Continue reading
The health care sell out, a work in progress
There’s a truism about investing – you should only do it when you are confident that you will profit from the outcome. If I pour $1,000 of my own money into Company X, I am confident enough that when I … Continue reading
Why the Right is Wrong on Health Care Reform
(admin note:this is a guest post lifted from the board by elspaniard. also contains a bit of profanity, but that’s okay.) Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve seen the shitstorm that is health care reform brewing in Washington as … Continue reading
I wonder if God told him to do it
Yesterday morning Dr. George Tiller, a prominent abortion doctor, was shot and killed at his church in Wichita, Kansas. Tiller was a lightning rod of target and controversy for the anti-choice movement, which led to an earlier shooting in 1993 … Continue reading
